Feels like a contractual obligation

No real rant, certainly no rave.
I had a busy weekend, back at soccer on Sunday and entertaining (and being entertained by) an old friend come to town after far too long.
Still managed to check in on the latest episode of Doctor Who, but I almost wish I hadn't. I know I'm sorry I watched the episode a second time.
But I've made a commitment and I'm not breaking it. I live-tweeted the episode on Sunday morning and have added a few thoughts now. For the record, and probably for Geoffrey Dow completists only (dare I dream such folk exist?), click here for Time Waste.

Date: 2014-09-25 06:45 am (UTC)I find it hard to believe you really don't understand why I keep watching, but I'll take you at your word. The answer is really quite simple: Because I'm a fan.
Because Doctor Who has at times brought great pleasure, and even joy, to my life and because I hope it will again. I am a fan. I am emotionally invested in the character and the concepts around him. I am a fan. When (I think) the program fails, when (I think) it is being taken down the wrong path, I care. And so I write about it. And I talk about it with others who care, for reasons just as silly — often, they even completely disagree with me (imagine that!), but we still share a love for the character and the old blue box and the concepts behind the program.
Does that answer your question? I also have one for you? If you find it such a waste of time to criticize that which you don't enjoy, why in the world do you bother reading my reviews, and commenting upon them to boot? I honestly do not understand why you don't stop reading. At least in my case, I have a long history of enjoying what I write about — as recently as three episodes back, in fact. (If you don't believe me, the proof is here.
