Review: Doctor Who, The Crimson Horror

Patterns of abuse

Screenshot from, The Crimson Horror, Doctor Who copyright 2013 BBC

I know a lot of you enjoyed "The Crimson Horror" and, in comparison to the previous week's travesty, you had every right to.

Nevertheless, what you enjoyed was still pretty lousy television and I guarantee that, unless you make a real study of it, you won't remember a damned thing about it a year from now.

Don't believe me?

Read "Carry On Up the Tardis!" to find out why it was the idea of "The Crimson Horror" you liked, and not the show itself.

As usual, both plot- and fun-spoilers abound, so enter at your own risk.

Thanks, but I'll decide why I like an episode.

And horses are sentient. The word you want is "sapient". Star Trek IV has a lot to answer for...

Yes, I enjoyed it, certainly more so than recent episodes. It wasn't great, but it was good fun. I'd prefer to see a lot more like this week's, even if the ending this week was a bit of a damp squib.

I tend to blame Star Trek because it seemed to popularise the word. I just looked it up on Wiktionary, and it states there that sci-fi seems to have its own definition!

Hi; Mod speaking. Well, one of us anyway.

As previously stated, you are entitled to your opinion, but please don't tell others what they should have thought about an episode.

I personally enjoyed it because it was a return to fun, silly, makes-no-sense-at-all, Classic Who.

Constructive criticism is quite acceptable, but this is sailing very close to bashing.

This comm is not a love-fest - granted - but we ask that you don't upset other members with your opinions.

Thank you.
